It's funny how much fun a kid can have being pushed around the house in a cardboard box. So cute how they were loving being squished in there together!

We celebrated our birthdays together with a lu`au party. Not a *real* baby lu`au, but the food was authentic! I really need to make Hawaiian food more often! We had kalua pig, lomi salmon, rice, and potato salad. And pineapple upside-down cake, yum. Chris' cake was this sugar free carrot cake (big pain to make) from the "What to Expect" books. He was not interested at all! It kind of ticked him off, in fact. But the next day he chowed down on it, so I guess it wasn't the cake, it was just too close to bedtime by the time we got to it. He was pretty cute though, he loved his gifts. It's hard to believe he's already one! We got him the Little People garage- which we didn't realize (duh) wasn't put together in the box or we would have put it together before we wrapped it. But it was still cool, he liked it. He got lots of cool stuff. Me too- it was a fun birthday party, even though I have to be 30 now.

I can't believe he's one! Our little baby... he's getting to be so old! He's doing so much, he plays independently and laughs and just has so much fun. He stands up everywhere and walks along things, all those big boy things.
Chris likes to carry little things around. He'll get attached to something for a day or maybe a few days he'll keep going back to it. Today it was this rubber spider. You can see in the album below a couple more pics, but he had that thing with him all day! He's so funny...

Today we just played a lot and then went to Chuck E. Cheese's when Daddy got home. They had so much fun. Chris loved the rides, which was totally different from Ben when we took him on his first birthday- he was not into those. But Chris just rode everything and would smile and get all excited. He especially seemed to like the Barney and Bob the Builder ones. They both loved the skeeball. Chris wanted to put all the balls in the next tray over. Ben loved the music show- he ran up and was dancing and checking out "the band". He loves that place. We went not too long ago, so he still remembered and was so excited to go. Good times!
Dave's mom is out of town so we'll be doing the cake and party, etc. next week!

Yeah... I couldn't really be mad, it was my own fault that I wasn't paying attention. Plus it was kind of funny that he wrote on his little bald head... I've been really good about keeping pens out of reach, but Ben is into getting up on chairs at the kitchen table and messing around- so he got my pen and wrote ALL over Chris' head. Nice.
Poor little brother, always getting picked on. It didn't seem to bother him, though, or I would have known what was going on- believe me, he LETS ME KNOW when Ben is hurting him or bugging him. It was a gel pen, so I guess it didn't hurt...
Ben in the corner, he got a little on his face too:

Ben has started mimicking things we do- it's funny to see ourselves in this little guy. His newest is with this old camera that they have in their toybox. He says either "Say Cheese" or "Say Cheese Everybody" (I love that one) and then "checks the back" like I check the LCD screen on mine. Then he says, "That's a good one!" I did a scrapbook page of it tonight:
And tonight, when I was getting them ready for bed, I put Chris on the big Blue's Clues dog with his bottle. Ben went and found the smaller Blue dog and put it next to Chris and laid down next to him to drink their milk together. I think this is partly him wanting to show us he can do what Chris is doing (like if we're praising Chris for something) but mostly because he wants to do things WITH Chris. So cute.

We went up to Tims Ford State Park with our friends Sean and Abby this weekend. We rented a cabin and played in the water a little. It was pretty fun and relaxing, except for Ben's wrist getting sprained :( He was such a trooper though. All in all a good time. Chris just loved Abby- she would say "Hey Handsome" and he would get the biggest smile and get all shy and tilt his head- so funny! We didn't spend as much time playing as we wanted because of the ER trip, but it was good- hopefully it didn't suck too bad for them!
It's a great place that we'd never heard of and turned out to be a gem. We hope to get up there again soon!
And here is Ben with his little sling:

Chris has been pulling up on everything to stand lately. He figured out today that he can finally reach the piano keys by himself and he was loving it!
One more cute thing- I gave Ben and Chris each a cracker- Chris was sitting in the (messy) playroom and Ben had to go in and sit next to Chris and have their snack together- it was just cute. I love that he seems to be caring more and more about Chris and wondering where he is, wanting to be by him and talk to him-- so sweet.

Panoply is the yearly art festival here in town. This is the first year I've actually gone since we lived here, and it was really cool. Lots of music and cool arts and crafts. Ben loved it! There were art tents where he could try craft projects, there was a music tent that he really liked where they had a bunch of instruments there for the kids to try out- he loved the maracas and the violin! Chris enjoyed it too- there aren't as many pictures of him because he was typically with me and I'm the one who takes all the pictures- can't get Dave to. One new thing for Chris- though... the baby who would not take a sippy cup was drinking all of Ben's water! ;) Silly boy.

We went to a Looooousiana crawfish boil tonight. It was a weird party (a business contact of Dave's had invited us) but it was kind of cool to try crawfish, neither of us ever had. They had these styrofoam coolers full of them on each table- with these big platter things for shelling them. It's kind of like shelling shrimp- except that you first have to pop the head off. Ew. I didn't think I'd be able to do that, but it wasn't bad. They don't really have much flavor. Shrimp are way better.

A new Izatt baby is here- well, a New baby that is... haha (Steve and Jeanne that was for you). The boys have a new cousin- Nicole Grace was born yesterday at 4:40pm to Dave's sister Rachel and her husband Jeremy. She was 7 lbs 9 oz and 20 inches long. We got to see her a little bit last night and I was only able to get pictures through the nursery window- but they turned out fine... she's sooo pretty.

We had Ben's birthday party last night. He was so cute- he was so excited about every single thing. We had a hard time getting him to open all of his presents- in fact, one of them we just left for today because he was a little overwhelmed. We had the family over and everything was Blue's Clues since he is a fanatic!

They had so much fun. They loved the stuff they got in their baskets and Ben loved looking for eggs. He got to look for some at home and then more at Grandma and Grandpa's house later.
On Saturday, we were shopping at Walmart and they had pictures with the Easter bunny- I didn't know how they'd be- but for a free picture, we gave it a shot. They were awesome- Chris wasn't scared at all- more curious. Ben was only nervous for a second, then when he saw Chris went on the Easter bunny's lap, he went too.

Rubber ducky!!
